Creating the Perfect Sleep Environment: How to Prepare Your Space for Dreaming.

Prepare your mind, body and spirit to repair and dream each and every night. Deep restorative sleep is imperative to having and remembering your dreams. If you struggle to fall asleep or staying asleep, first become aware of it. Acknowledge where you are at. Beating yourself up for having issues with sleep will not help the situation. Then get curious. What and where exactly are your struggles? What makes it better? What makes it worse? Then you can make a plan on how to support yourself get restorative and healing sleep each and every night.

Tips for Getting Deep Healing Sleep

Finish Early: Prioritize eating and exercise earlier in the day. Avoid drinking caffeine and alcohol as these will both impact your ability to cycle in and out of deep sleep. Schedule your activities during your waking hours to maximize and prepare you for sleep.

Wind Down Slowly: Gradually wind down. This will signal to the body that it is time to slow down. Decrease overhead lights and electronic usage. If possible stop using devices 2 hours before bed.

Connect To Your Body: Do some gentle movement to move you out of your head and into your body. You can stretch, practice yoga or massage your feet! Anything that moves your attention to your breath and body.

Herbs And Flowers: Different herbs and flowers have calming effects and can help with sleep. Valerian root, and chamomile can help the body relax. Plants like mugwort will enhance dream recall and make dreams more vivid and heightened. Always tune in with your body before taking an external substance and make sure it is safe for you to work with.

Give Thanks: Give thanks for the full and complete day. You can write it down or say it out loud. Rest with gratitude for the splendor and magnificence of the world.
