4 Benefits To Spending More Time Outside.
The more you are connected to nature, and in sync with her rhythm the happier you will be. Spending time outside will increase overall levels of happiness and will improve your creativity and inner peace. We are one with nature, but often we act like we are separate from her. Spend time outside in a forest, national park or ocean to reconnect to your animal essence. The benefits of spending time outside are immense, it will help you to..
Decrease Inflammation: Grounding, or allowing your feet to have direct contact to the Earth supports the bodies overall function by decreasing inflammation. Every disease is a result of inflammation in the body. Grounding improves mood, increases blood and lymph circulation and promotes health and a sense of well-being.
Regulate Your Circadian Rhythm: Wake up with the sunrise and go to sleep with the sunset. This will help to reset your circadian rhythm. The circadian rhythm is the natural system that controls the bodies functions. It follows a 24 hours cycle and in affected by the environment. Things like blue light, sugar, alcohol, chronic illness and high stress will interrupt the circadian rhythm. When your rhythm is off it will lower immunity, mood and disrupt your sleep pattern. Waking up, getting outside and allowing the sun’s rays to hit your skin in the morning and doing the same at night will help you to reset your circadian rhythm.
Connect to Cyclical Nature of Life: Spending time outside in nature will help you to remember the cyclical nature of life. Every year Summer comes, a time for celebration play and harvest and then we transition into Fall. Fall, a time of death, decay and slowing down. Fall turns into Winter, when we retreat, reflect and go inwards. Which gives life to Spring, a time of new growth, a rebirth and a blooming into a new version of self. Just as there is a rhythm to the year and the seasons there is a rhythm to the day and the month. When we spend time outside we are more aware of the every changing nature of our world. This remembrance helps us navigate our relationships and life with grace and ease.
Increase Gratitude: Spending time in Nature will help you to connect to gratitude and marvel at how magical our world is. When you see a humming bird whizzing around a flower, or you sit by a river and allow yourself to listen to the rushing water you will be fully immersed in the moment. When you are present you are able to be grateful for what is. Spending time in nature therefor will connect you to the present and feeling of deep gratitude.
Spending time outside alone or with community has so many benefits. Make it a point to spend two hours or more every day outside. If that is not possible try to schedule longer stints of time away and in nature. Like taking two weeks to camp in a National Park every year or making sure you spend one day a week at the beach or hiking. Give it a try and see how your life naturally recalibrates and comes back into balance.
